| We use only hydraulic fluid (transmission fluid) with our
pressure plates to test the remanufactured transmissions. You
can use only Air and test your transmissions. But why do you still want to
work like in the old time ? With air pressure you can hear the clutches working,
but you cannot hear or see how much air is bypassing the seals. Some
technicians rebuild day after day the same transmissions, they get a
feeling when the clutches work and when not. They hear when the air is
blowing too much and bypass the seals. But on some bad days even with
their experience they make a misjudgment. You know your clutches work, but you don't know how good they work ?? I tell you, the hydraulic circuit tester is the best machine in our shop it saves the technician the most time and the shop the most money. With 100% accuracy you can see if a clutch is working or not and you can see how it is working in the scale of 0% to 100%. If you like to work on the newer transmissions the 5HP24 for example, you need to pressure test the clutches with hydraulic fluid, specially with the new 722.9 transmission versions. With air pressure test you will not get 100% results and you cannot count on if your clutches are working perfectly. You need to know that there is NO failure in the clutch-packs when you are looking for a shift problem after you rebuild the unit,-- trust me. Herbert |
